Wishah

Wishah, meaning 'Veil' in Arabic, is a five-part composition by Youmna Saba for voice, oud, and electronics, created between 2021 and 2022. This album marks a new phase in Saba’s work, blending traditional oud sounds with innovative digital enhancements developed through her research. Wishah explores the sonic qualities of Arabic phonemes and integrates subtle instrumental sounds with synthesized electronics. The five stages of the composition gradually reveal layers of emotion and memory, serving as a poignant farewell to home.
