Wewantsounds presents the first reissue of Jack Wilkins's 1973 Mainstream Records album Windows. Produced by Bob Shad, this trio session features Wilkins on guitar with bassist Mike Moore and drummer Bill Goodwin, recorded at New York's Record Plant. The album gained cult status for its slow funk version of Freddie Hubbard's Red Clay, sampled by A Tribe Called Quest on Sucka Nigga and Chance the Rapper on Nana . The trio performs jazz standards including Coltrane's Naima, Wayne Shorter's Pinocchio, and Chick Corea's Windows. An underrated guitarist who's worked with Stanley Turrentine, Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughan, and Sammy Davis Jr., Wilkins is a musician's musician.
