Waak Waak ga Min Min

Efficient Space presents rare recordings by three Yolngu songmen from Northeast Arnhem Land—Bobby Bunnungurr, Jimmy Djamunba, and Peter Milaynga—collaborating with Victorian musician Peter Mumme. Their mid-90s work blends traditional songs with electronic soundscapes, reimagining stories of black crows and white cockatoos, creation spirits, and country. Originally released as Crow Fire Music in 1997, these interpretations faded from public view but resonated deeply in the Yolngu homeland. Waak Waak ga Min Min combines the previously unreleased Gandi Bawong with five contemporary album versions and a new cover painting by Bobby Bunnungurr—a window into Aboriginal culture and cross-cultural collaboration spanning millennia to the present day.
