Those Southern Knights

Despite the title’s cheesy nod to the mid-70s Glenn Campbell hit, this album is a genuine gem—a collection of soulful, smooth, funky jazz tracks by The Crusaders. By this stage, they had firmly established themselves as pioneers of the pop soul jazz genre. The album features crisp, precise production, especially evident in the standout jazz groove “Keep That Same Old Feeling,” one of Wayne Henderson’s finest compositions, which he revisited frequently with various ensembles.
