Vietnam's long-awaited second album, This Quiet Room, marks the triumphant return of New Zealand's post-punk legends after four decades. Originally active from 1981–85, the Wellington-based band reunites with renewed passion and world-weary maturity. Across 12 tracks, This Quiet Room blends jangly guitars with dark exuberance—drawing influences from Wire, Billy Bragg, and Portishead. Standout moments include the raucous "In Another Desert," the Magazine-esque "What Have I Done," and the latest single "Where Is My Happiness?", which pairs introspective lyrics with bright, opposing guitar work. An essential listen for post-punk revival fans and anyone craving the Antipodean sounds of the late 70s and early 80s.
