The first installment of Mr. Bongo's two-part compilation, The Essential Marcos Valle, carefully curates a selection of early 1970s hits such as "Mentira," "Proton Eletron Neutron," and "Nao Tem Nada Nao," along with mellow ballads like "Viagem" and "Ele e Ela." Valle's albums from this period, including Garra and Previsão do Tempo, seamlessly blended a soulful groove with smooth, easy listening melodies and pristine production. The result is captured perfectly in The Essential Marcos Valle. While later compilations such as Preferencia Nacional and Café Après-Midi offer superior sound quality, they cannot match the essence of Valle's work in the early 1970s.
