Description
Producer and guitarist Steve Cropper faced a daunting challenge in compiling this album, which came out after Otis Redding's tragic death. Instead of being a simple cash grab or a depressing tribute, this release serves as a vibrant, thrilling tribute to the incredible talent that was taken from us. "Dock of the Bay" is a collection of singles, B-sides, a legendary duet with Carla Thomas, and two previously unreleased tracks from 1966 and 1967. While there may not be a stylistic theme connecting the songs, it's impossible not to feel the passion and intensity in every track. Cropper carefully curated each song, showcasing some of Redding's most powerful performances, such as the soulful "I Love You More Than Words Can Say," the lively "Let Me Come on Home," and the dynamic "Don't Mess With Cupid." This record is a must-listen for any fan of the late, great Otis Redding.
