Carioca's 1978 debut album captures the rare fusion of samba, bossa nova, and Japanese musicianship. Originally known as "Samba Carioca," this ensemble evolved from Kiyoshi Hasegawa's backing band into a distinctive Brazilian-Japanese crossover sound. Featuring specialist musicians like drummer Antonio Ishida and guitarist Masami Sato, the album showcases guest appearances from Masayoshi Takanaka, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and others. A club favourite that embodies the resort-flavoured fusion style that defined 70s and 80s Japanese experimental music.
