Auckland post-punk trio Swallow the Rat have announced their new album 'South Locust'.
Since forming in 2017, Swallow the Rat have carved their own path with two tours of the USA, plus countless shows up and down Aotearoa, which have earned the band a favourable underground following and coveted support slots for the likes of Arab Strap, June of 44, Sebadoh, No Age, and Gang of Four.
In 2020 they signed to Austin/London based label Shifting Sounds for the release of their debut album 'Leaving Room'. A split LP with NYC group Clone followed in 2021.
Late 2022 saw the band collaborate with vocalist Yuko Miyoshi (Memory Foam) for the single 'Other Rooms' which was mixed by Oliver Ackermann (A Place to Bury Strangers). This served as a precursor for the September 1st 2023 release of second album 'South Locust'. Recorded in Auckland with engineer Nick Abbott (Die! Die! Die!), the album was mixed remotely in Los Angeles by Sonny Diperri (Protomartyr, Diiv), then mastered and cut in Chicago by the legendary Carl Saff (Sonic Youth).
