Description
In 1967, Donald Byrd recorded Slow Drag, one of his last hard bop sessions before he began exploring fusion. Byrd, along with a talented quintet, delivers a highly entertaining set of original compositions, including a 10-minute groovefest titled "Slow Drag" and a soulful jazz waltz, "The Loner." The album features standout performances by Byrd's fellow musicians, including drummer Billy Higgins and saxophonist Sonny Red.
