After 5 decades of Cape Verdian music, Marcos' self-released LP is a surprising discovery. Produced in 1984 in a Portuguese studio with backing from Paulino Vieira and 80's Cape Verdean luminaries such as Chibanga on drums, it may be the pinnacle of Funana music. Little is known about the record, titled Saudade, or its creator. Its 6 tracks are unmistakably Funana, made up of solely keyboards, guitars, drums and bass. To date, only two copies are known to exist.
