Pink Tape is the third album from Philly rapper Lil Uzi Vert. It provides a unique, albeit somewhat scattered, insight into the artist's musical taste and how they incorporate it into their work. Throughout their career, Uzi has embraced the fusion of emo and pop punk in their music, positioning themselves as a leader in the emo-rap subgenre alongside artists like Lil Peep and XXXTentacion. With Pink Tape, Uzi continues to expand their sound by incorporating new influences, building on the groundwork laid by their previous album Eternal Atake.
Many tracks on Pink Tape share similarities to Uzi and Playboi Carti's pioneering sound, as well as the hybrid pop-rap style found in some of Uzi's previous work. The track "Suicide Doors" exemplifies the rage-filled energy present on the album, while also taking aim at Charleston White. With Arca's production, this song is a standout. Another high-energy track, "x2" features production from Ken Carson and Clif Shayne of Carti's Opium label. The hook and vocal performances perfectly showcase why Uzi excels at this style.
