The New Jersey Kings deliver a hospitable, slightly funk-laden soul-jazz sound in their opening LP, Party to the Bus Stop. At times, the group appears to emulate the work of the Beastie Boys and their keyboardist Money Mark via their revisiting of vintage Richard "Groove" Holmes, Isaac Hayes, Big John Patton, and Curtis Mayfield creations in their attempt to attain a raw, funky, soul-drenched vibe. Nevertheless, the New Jersey Kings don't quite hit the same mark as the Beasties and Money Mark, mainly due to their somewhat inhibited flow, although the album still features several enjoyable moments.
