One Thousand Horizon

Hailing from Utsunomiya, Japan, producer Axion117—also known as Sato Shuya—brings his sample-based instrumental hip hop to Cold Busted with One Thousand Horizon, a 19-track album. Following releases on Collective Resonance, Expansions Collective and Mellow Orange, he delivers intricate cuts, melodic passages and swinging breakbeats that invite an easy head-nod. “Through The Looking Glass” stands out with filtered flute, inventive drum programming and a jazzy breakdown, showcasing Axion117’s craft in a concise two-and-a-half-minute track. Across the album, jazzy, funky, dreamy and soulful moods unfold with a relaxed, reflective feel—ideal for a hazy afternoon.
