Following the instant sell-out of MT FUJI FM, Gilles Peterson and The Yussef Dayes Experience return with LIVE FROM MT. FUJI—a collector’s special-edition vinyl featuring music only. The recording brings together live renditions of familiar favourites and new compositions, joined by Japanese vocalist and virtuoso Minami Kizuki. From Amami Island, Kizuki performs on vocals and sanshin, the region’s distinctive three-stringed instrument. The collaboration came about spontaneously: while preparing to film at Mount Fuji, Yussef Dayes hoped to connect with a local musician rooted in the islands’ sound and spirit. Kizuki’s ethereal musicianship added a fresh dimension to the performance. “She just came with her vibes, and we just tapped in,” says Yussef. “It was this beautiful moment, and she really blessed us with the vibes.”

A meeting of cultures, rhythms and stories, LIVE FROM MT. FUJI reflects Yussef Dayes’ global musical vision.
