La Chanson d'Orphée
A 1980 release from Japanese jazz trumpeter Hino Terumasa, recorded during his return to Japan following his 1979 album "City Connection". Marking a bold departure from the electric Miles Davis-influenced jazz fusion of his New York period, this album embraces Brazilian and Latin music throughout. Hino's quintet is joined by percussionist Masami Kawahara and Los Lumbells, delivering vibrant Latin interpretations of Brazilian standards from Sergio Mendes and Antonio Carlos Jobim, alongside works by Herbie Louiz Bonfa, Herbie Hancock, and reimagined Beatles classics. A spirited exploration of tropical rhythms and jazz sophistication.
