Jazz Is Dead 005 - Doug Carn

The Black Jazz label from Oakland promoted young African American jazz artists between 1971 and 1975, releasing twenty albums. Doug Carn, a key artist on the label, gained success with four albums featuring contributions from his then-wife Jean Carn. His latest work, part of the Jazz Is Dead series, blends his classic 70s jazz style with modern jazz, hip-hop, and funk elements, creating a fresh yet recognizable sound. This project honors Carn’s legacy while introducing his music to new audiences through expert collaborations and innovative production.
