Hawalat
Hawalat is a sweeping sonic journey exploring diaspora, exile, and creative exchange across cultures. Inspired by the concept of hawala—informal networks of connection—this 17-track album blends Mediterranean, Somali, and hip-hop influences with orchestral arrangements. Opening with the punchy, saxophone-driven Hanadi, it moves through intimate vocal moments and urgent string work, anchored by Charif Megarbane's signature Mediterranean sound. Featuring collaborations including Sven Wunder and the Stockholm Studio Orchestra, Hawalat captures the tension between the global and domestic, the mundane and cosmic, in a genre-defying collection that rewards repeated listening.
