This is an excellent big band album by the great trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie recorded live at the Newport Jazz Festival on July 6, 1957.
This overlooked album captures Gillespie's big band in peak form and the 70+ minutes of entertaining and exciting music on 'At Newport' deserves a place in any modern jazz collection.
