Description
Recorded in 1978, this standout work from the iconic Brazilian artist, Tim Maia, captures the vibrant energy of disco’s peak while staying true to his funk and soul origins. For 'Disco Club', Maia stepped away from his regular band to record at the renowned Estudios Level, collaborating with Rio’s top musicians including Paulinha Braga (drums), Jamil Joanes (bass), Robson Jorge (clarinet), Hyldon De Souza (guitar), Sidinho (percussion), trombonists Edmundo Maciel and Darcy Seixas, and Juarez Assis on tenor sax. The sessions were shaped by arranger and keyboardist Lincoln Olivetti, whose signature string arrangements and bold brass accents enriched the dynamic, uptempo tracks and allowed Maia ample space for artistic expression.
