Description

The 1965 album Dialogue marked vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson's debut as a leader, showcasing his versatility as a sideman through his work on classic Blue Note albums like Grant Green's Idle Moments and Jackie McLean's Destination Out. Originally recorded in 1963 as a straight-ahead hard bop session, Dialogue was shelved by Blue Note boss Alfred Lion and only released in 1999 as The Kicker. This album, however, captured Hutcherson's more daring side with a sextet featuring influential musicians like Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, Sam Rivers on saxophone and woodwinds, Andrew Hill on piano, Richard Davison on bass, and Joe Chambers on drums. The standout tracks on the album were composed by Hill and Chambers.
