One of the Last Poets' funkiest outings, this record showcases heavy bass and drums alongside a grittier soul groove than their earlier work. Bernard Purdie's dynamic drumming perfectly complements the group's jazzy, improvisational rhymes, shifting fluidly through their evolving changes and grooves. While less politically charged than their early material, the album delivers compelling moments throughout. Standout tracks include "Blessed Are Those Who Struggle," "It's a Trip," "The Pill," and the expansive "Beyonder," which dominates side two.
