Dark Beauty

Kenny Drew's trio with bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and drummer Albert Heath recorded this album in Copenhagen in 1974. Regular collaborators at the legendary Montmartre Jazzhus, the three musicians captured eight tracks—four Drew originals including the title ballad "Dark Beauty," plus standards and Miles Davis's "All Blues." Recorded at Rosenberg Studio with engineer Freddy Hansson, the session showcases Drew's composed melodies and improvisational interplay, Heath's warm approach, and the young NHOP's assured bass work.
