Welcomer's debut album Calendars blends folk-influenced pop with understated punk sensibilities. Led by songwriter Miles Sutton's gravelly baritone and honest storytelling, this ten-track release features soft acoustic guitars, shimmering strings, and atmospheric production. Melancholic yet introspective, Calendars explores themes of loss and displacement set against New Zealand's autumn. Sutton's clever wordplay and vivid lyrics reward close listening, while the band's restrained instrumentation creates space for his distinctive vocal delivery. Featuring appearances from vocalist Shannen Georgia Petersen, this thoughtfully crafted LP showcases a complex sound that balances introspection with moments of uplift.
