Jed Parsons’ sophomore effort uniquely showcases Kiwi middle-class suburbia with power Brit-pop energy and deeply relatable tunes, like “Movie Knight” and “25”. The latter of which, written a week before his quarter-century birthday, is a highlight thanks to its honeyed existentialism. Brunch is a generous snapshot of an artist falling in love and finding his voice along the way.
