Black Orpheus
Isao Suzuki Trio's landmark 1976 album Black Orpheus returns on 180g vinyl, reviving a Japanese jazz classic. Recorded at Tokyo's Aoi Studio and originally released on Three Blind Mice (TBM-63), this reissue showcases Suzuki's masterful cello and bass work alongside pianist Tsuyoshi Yamamoto and drummer Donald Bailey. The album blends bossa nova sophistication with soul-jazz warmth, featuring standards like "Manhã de Carnaval" and "Angel Eyes" alongside Yamamoto's original "Blues." Produced by Takeshi Fujii and engineered by Yoshihiko Kannari, the recording delivers the crystalline sound and dynamic presence that defined Aoi Studio's golden era, now restored for contemporary listeners.
