Azerbaijani Gitara

Azerbaijani musician Rüstəm Quliyev's 2005 passing due to lung cancer was a great loss to the music world. With a unique style that combined traditional Azerbaijani music with global influences, Quliyev's family and Mountains of Tongues present his first internationally released recordings, showcasing his guitar skills. Azerbaijani Gitara, a series of compilation albums by Swiss label Bongo Joe, features music in the genre of Azerbaijani gitara, which originated in the 1960s as artists like Rafiq Hüseynov fused traditional mugham with western styles using Czech Jolana guitars.
