"Alive II" was recorded in 1977 at Budokan Hall in Tokyo for a planned live album, but was ultimately deemed unusable. The recorded tracks were later used for the Love Gun sessions and incorporated into the final album. To avoid duplicating songs from their previous live album, KISS chose tracks from their last three studio albums: Destroyer, Rock and Roll Over, and Love Gun.
