Neil Young's second studio album, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, released in 1969, featured his soon-to-be backing band Crazy Horse. It was a milestone for Young, confirming his success up to that point and aiding the release of 1970's After The Goldrush. All four singles from the record, including "Cinnamon Girl," "Down by the River," the title track, and "Cowgirl in the Sand," were written and recorded during a single day, while Young endured a high fever.
