Released following Phoebe Bridgers' highly praised sophomore album Punisher, 'Copycat Killer' features orchestral reworks of four tracks, with new arrangements by Rob Moose, frequent collaborator of artists such as Bon Iver and Taylor Swift. These reworks may lack the flourishes of Punisher's stellar production and crowd of Bridgers' friends' voices, but this only allows Bridgers to demonstrate the power and drama of her voice and songwriting without any distractions. Perhaps the best example is Moose's rework of lead single 'Kyoto.' Without the blaring trumpet and whimsical synths featured on the original track, Bridgers' presents herself at her most vulnerable.
