Description

Marcos Valle is known as one of Brazil's essential artists. Valle is famed for his genre-spanning music, from bossa jazz to psych folk and soul. After establishing himself as a top Brazilian songwriter in the 1960s, he moved to LA in the '70s. Valle has since collaborated with US talent such as Leon Ware and Chicago.

Marcos Valle's "Vontade De Rever Você" (1981) marked his return to Brazil, infusing his music with newfound influences from the US, particularly boogie, soul and funk. The album features renowned names such as Sivuca, Peter Cetera, Robson Jorge and Jose Roberto Bertrami, and opens with 'A Paraiba nao e Chicago' -- a reinterpretation of Leon Ware's 'Baby Don't Stop Me'.

Fans of boogie will love the irresistibly groovy 'Pecados de amor' (Valle's own work, previously recorded by Cristina Camargo) and 'Velhos surfistas querendo voar'. Even at a mid-tempo, tunes like the closing number 'Nao pode ser qualquer mulher' demonstrate Valle's masterful blend of Brazilian music and funky rhythms. An essential album.
