The 1965 Berlin all-star saxophone concert was overcrowded and musicians were limited to a 15-minute performance. In protest, tenor saxophonist Booker Ervin played a stirring and intense rendition of "Blues for You" for an unprecedented 27½-minutes, stunning the audience. "Lament for Booker" (led by pianist Horace Parlan) was released in 1975, 10 years after Ervin's death. It was a homage to the passion and emotion of his Berlin performance.
