Description

Incredible, previously unreleased early 1980's Algerian synth electronic by Ahmed Malek, compiled by Flako.

Unearthing a memorable collection of late '70s/early '80s avant ambient electronics from Arabic North Africa, The Electronic Tapes discloses the endeavors of Ahmed Malek (1931-2008) - dubbed "Algeria's answer to Ennio Morricone" - as edited and upgraded for release by Flako. Imagine Dariush Dolat-Shahi transformed into NWW-style jazzy concrète mosaics and you have an idea of the record's delightful allure. Discovered by his relatives in Algiers during the 2015 soundtrack reissue process, these tapes were originally conceived as demos or private experiments.

Since Ahmed Malek is no longer around to direct proceedings, Flako has adeptly added subtle touches of Roland SH-2000 and Korg MS20 to complete the electro-acoustic works in a manner that surely honors the composer's intent.
