Preservation Hall opened in 1961, led by tuba player Allan Jaffe. It soon became the go-to spot for veteran NOLA musicians, including the members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, who would go on to tour the world and make the city's jazz famous. The 1977 recording features Percy Humphrey (trumpet), Willie Humphrey (clarinet), Frank Demond (trombone), Sing Miller (piano), Narvin Kimball (banjo/vocals), Cie Frazier (drums), and Jaffe (tuba). The album contains classic Dixieland tunes, spirituals, sentimental ballads, and blues, all played with exuberance and a smile-inducing spirit.
