As a young child, she learned to play the piano and drums. She had a strong passion for music since childhood and started playing the guitar when she was 14.

She worked hard to develop her voice. In her early years, she used to sing at weddings and made her arrangements.

She describes her ethnicity as "half-Polish, half-English, part Scandinavian, and part Indian." She has stated that her ethnicity is similar to that of Michael Jackson. She also has a French Canadian stepfather.
