Mac DeMarco (aka MacBriare Samuel Lanyon DeMarco) finally released his third full-length album This Old Dog after 2014's Salad Days. Moving from Queens to Los Angeles presented Mac with more time and inspired his songwriting - allowing him to reflect on his demos for much longer than usual. DeMarco says, “I wrote, sat, and got to know the songs really well. It was a different approach.” He wrote many of the songs on an acoustic guitar, something he hadn’t done before. Tracks like “My Old Man” and “This Old Dog” feature synths and drum machine, but the album still maintains a clear “unplugged” vibe. DeMarco finds it to be his own Italian rock record.
