Living In The Past takes its name from the May 1969 single release and features an elaborate gate-fold packaging with a large photo booklet containing over 50 stunning images of the band.
The album also includes live recordings of "By Kind Permission Of," and "Dharma for One," from Carnegie Hall. Remixed versions of "Love Story", "Christmas Song", "Living in the Past", "Driving Song", "Sweet Dream", "Witch's Promise", "A Song for Jeffrey", and "Teacher" are also featured, many of which were previously only available in mono or on British releases.
This marked Living in the Past as Jethro Tull's first album on Chrysalis Records in the United States, distinguishing it from their past releases under Warner Bros. Records.
