This dynamic jazz recording marks one of the first times drummer Elvin Jones' working group recorded together - and one of his first without John Coltrane. Joining the trio of tenor saxophonist George Coleman, bassist Wilbur Little and drummer Elvin Jones is trumpeter Marvin "Hannibal" Peterson. Their renditions of "By George," "Laura," and "You Don't Know What Love Is," plus their 15-minute take on "Mister Jones," ignite a spark of late-'50s/early-'60s modal intensity. Exploring the depths of the music, the playing here is excellent and inspiring.
