I, Jonathan is the fourth album from the Modern Lovers frontman, Jonathan Richman. First released in 1992, I, Jonathan sees Richman at his playful best. Opening track Parties In The U.S.A recounts house parties in L.A, while Velvet Underground pays homage to his heroes, and features a great breakdown, albeit in a uniquely Richman way, of Sister Ray. I was Dancing In The Lesbian Bar is the single that further highlighted Richman's unique lyrics, and his now iconic sound. I, Jonathan is without doubt a classic, and is the perfect entry into the wild, weird and wonderful world of Jonathan Richman.
