Jarrow (known to his mum and his buddies as Dan Oke) is a self-taught, self-produced, multi-instrumentalist 20 year old wunderkind who we stumbled upon in Footscray earlier this year. His debut single $$ Spoilers $$ has created quite the stir - premiering on Apple Music's Beats Radio and cracking Spotify's UK Viral top 15 - all without leaving Melbourne.
Jarrow describes his sound as "garage rock meets indie pop meets post punk meets free jazz” and while he was being tongue in cheek at the time, he's actually not that far off. His production is remarkably adventurous and self-assured while lyrically he's both profound and hilarious.
Dan refers to his debut album as “a collection of semi-autobiographical snippets of my life over a super eventful period of my life being put to tape with loud music playing over the top of it.” Initially, he believed that recording an LP was too “far-fetched” to be an achievable reality. Back in 2003 (when he was just 7 years of age!) he imagined one day recording an album, hence the name “2003 Dream”.
